3 posts into the new blog, and I find myself months behind. I've been doing a lot of woodburnings for gifts lately, but I never seem to remember to take photographs before I send them off to their new home. I will, however, tell you about my favorite pyrographer, Marshall Stokes. Well, to clarify, I will show you some of his work I love:

You get the idea. Anyway, his work can be found at www.popicon1.com. For whatever reason, doing woodburnings is completely relaxing to me. Perhaps it's the campfire smell of burning wood. It's strange, I'm not the kind of person who likes to make permanent, lasting decisions about anything, yet working with this medium doesn't stress me out at all. My nirvana=pyrography.
So far as other things in my life, I am attempting my first large canvas this weekend. I bought a 24"x36" canvas for our bedroom and know that it will likely take me entirely too long to complete it. I'm always amazed by the painters who can aggressively tackle a project like this and come up with a finished--good--project within a few hours. I typically get lost in a small corner of the painting for hours, creating layers of texture that can only be seen from a 6" distance. Not exactly the best use of time.
I'm also making some crafty signs for my friend, Deisha's, upcoming wedding. Not a big deal, but I will get to use a bandsaw... This could be interesting. If I lose any fingers, at least Halloween is around the corner.
